Job Description
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Director of Warehouse & Logistics Management - Supply Chain Management. This is a permanent role with our client, a leading innovator in the aerospace and defense industry.
As the Director of Warehouse & Logistics Management within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) function, you will be entrusted with developing and executing strategies for efficient warehouse and logistics operations. This role demands a seasoned professional with expertise in warehouse management, logistics optimization, and a deep understanding of the defence and aerospace industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Warehouse Operations:
- Develop and execute strategies to optimize warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfilment, and distribution.
- Implement best practices for space utilization, inventory accuracy, and order processing efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align warehouse strategies with organizational goals.
2. Inventory Management and Optimization:
- Oversee inventory management processes, ensuring accurate stock levels, and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
- Implement strategies for efficient material flow, including storage, picking, and replenishment processes.
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to optimize inventory levels based on demand forecasts.
3. Logistics and Distribution:
- Optimize distribution processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Collaborate with logistics providers to streamline transportation, reduce lead times, and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
- Implement logistics software and technologies to enhance visibility and tracking.
- Responsible for facilitating customs clearance procedures
- Obtaining approvals from the Ministry of Defence
- Overseeing the acquisition of Import and Export licenses
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices in warehouse operations.
- Implement safety training programs and conduct regular safety audits.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to stay informed about and adhere to changing safety requirements.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of warehouse and logistics professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular training programs to enhance the skill set of the warehouse team.
- Drive employee engagement and create a positive working environment.
Required qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in warehouse and logistics management, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.
- Bachelor's degree (preferred Master's Degree) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with a focus on creating efficient and high-performing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of safety and compliance standards in warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in logistics software and technologies.
