Job Description
We are looking for a contractor with skills in Mechanical System Design for a temporary 4 to 6 months project.
The goal is to design a mechanical system that uses actuators to execute the control commands of a parachute. The candidate should have a strong background in mechanical engineering with a solid understanding of basic electronics and linear actuators.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct a thorough analysis of the project requirements, including load capacity, desired movement patterns, and any specific constraints or limitations.
• Design a mechanical system involving linear actuators while accommodating heavy loads.
• Integrate basic electronic components into the system as needed to control and monitor its operation.
• Coordinate with 3D printing team to rapidly prototype and test various components and materials.
• Coordinate with CNC machining team to fabricate precision parts and assemblies.
• Perform detailed calculations and simulations to evaluate the strength and durability of the design under various load conditions.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the successful implementation of the mechanical system.
Required qualifications
• Master's or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical system design.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of basic electronics and their application in mechanical systems.
• Experience in designing systems that involve linear actuators.
• Ability to characterize the strength and durability of mechanical designs under heavy loads.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
