We are a Belgian engineering consulting firm that assists SMEs and large industrial organizations in bringing their innovation and R&D initiatives to life.
For one of our clients, we are looking for a mechanical design engineer with excellent technical skills in the field of micro-fabrication such as 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting etc. Experience in microfluidic building blocks and set-ups is a nice to have. You will work on a variety of different projects in which customized, fluidic integration of (Si) sensor chips is demanded. You have a methodical approach and excellent reporting skills to define test plans, summarize learnings and create manufacturing protocols.
Required qualifications
Key tasks
• Design and implement mechanical and microfluidic components for the fluidic integration of sensor chips.
• Define, test and validate manufacturing routes for customized components with our in-house lab facilities as well as look for external processing sources.
• Perform experiments in the lab to test and characterize the physical behaviour of such integration solutions.
• Manage time effectively according to aggressive project schedules.
• Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of electronic design engineers, life science researchers and external suppliers.
Profile
• Bachelor/master degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, applied physics or other equivalent discipline with relevant experience in micro-fabrication prototyping for research or industry, preferably for life-science applications.
• Skilled with CAD design software.
• Familiar with a multitude of micro-fabrication manufacturing methods, microfluidic products and existing device solutions.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and device testing and enjoy working in the lab.
• Strong analytical skills and can perform data processing using analytical or computational tools.
• Experience working in a research or development environment with an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Team player.
• Fluent in English.
