Job Description
Essential points:
Several years of prior experience in Insurance Underwriting (non-life insurance products). Ideally you have managed portfolios of fleet or have helped develop portfolios for MGAs or insurance providers in a similar field.
Extensive experience in Risk assessment and Actuarial Pricing (to support us with new risks associated with international mobility platforms)
Proven experience in embedded insurance or similar field
Hands-on experience required – profiles with primarily managerial or delegation-focused roles will not meet the need
Experience with the European market
Proactive, with the ability to define underwriting guidelines (Quantitative / actuarial background would be ideal)
Fluent in english
As Underwriting Manager, you will report to the Head of the International Non-Life department.
Your main missions will be to:
Develop a profitable and sustainable portfolio which covers several lines of business (motor, property, extended warranty, etc).
Evaluate risks objectively, identify potential issues or inconsistencies in applications, and propose appropriate solutions or risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with our product managers and actuaries.
Develop underwriting guidelines for the lines of business we address in our portfolio.
Evaluate applicant information, claims history, market trends, and financial indicators to determine coverage eligibility and pricing with a profound understanding of insurance principles, policies, regulations, and industry trends. This includes knowledge of different types of insurance products, risk assessment methodologies, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements.
Analyze complex data sets, risk assessment, and make informed underwriting decisions together with our actuaries and our product managers. Verify adequacy with reinsurance coverage and subjectivities.
Review policy terms, and documentation with a special attention to detail.
Communicate effectively with our partners and other stakeholders (intern or extern), clearly convey complex insurance concepts, negotiate terms, commission models and address inquiries or concerns from customers or colleagues.
Challenge pricing models, policy management, and data analyses in regard to efficiency and accuracy.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and advancements in technology or underwriting practices.
Participate in the discussions on product improvement with our product managers, claims expert as well as process optimization.
Required qualifications
Prior experience of several years in a similar role is highly desirable. Ideally you have managed portfolios of fleet or have helped develop portfolios for MGAs or insurance providers in a similar field.
Quantitative / actuarial background a plus.
You have a proven record of managing heterogeneous portfolio.
You are proactive and a strong communicator and fluent in English, any other language is a plus.
You hold a bachelor's degree preferably in fields such as insurance, risk management, finance, business administration, economics, mathematics, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or professional certifications are a plus.
Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements and familiarity with insurance policies, coverage types, and exclusions.
Proven ability to work with spreadsheets for data manipulation and analysis.

Occasional business trips to Luxembourg if working in a freelance framework.
